Works on your phone

The RSVP form looks for your name on the couple's guest list, written the way they wrote it. When it can't find you, it's nearly always a spelling or a nickname, and it's quick to sort out.

Try these first

  1. Type your first and last name. One name on its own never finds anyone, so the form asks Thanks. And your surname? (1). Type it in the Surname box and choose Search with my surname.

  2. Type just your own name, not "Mr and Mrs Smith" or the whole family. Finding one person brings up your whole party.

  3. Try the name the couple might have used: a nickname or your full first name, or a maiden or married surname. After two tries the form suggests this too.

  4. Still nothing? Get in touch with the couple, as the hint under the button says (2). If they've added how to reach them, it shows under the button after your search, headed Contact and their names. The form can't pass on a message, so otherwise use the email, phone number or chat you already have for them.

Small differences are fine. Capitals, accents, apostrophes and hyphens don't matter, so O'Brien finds OBrien and Jose finds José. Nor do word order or a missing middle name. If your name is close to one on the list, like Liz for Elizabeth, the form shows both names and asks Just checking: is this you? Choose Yes, this is me, or No, that's not me to search again.

Other messages you might see

  • More than one guest could have that name. Type your full name as it's written on your invitation. If that's already how you typed it, get in touch with the couple and they'll sort it out.
  • We can't take your RSVP here. You're on the guest list, but this form only asks about events you haven't been invited to. Get in touch with the couple and they'll sort it out.
  • Form Closed. The couple aren't taking RSVPs on this form right now, or their RSVP deadline has passed. Get in touch with them directly.
  • Form Not Found. The link isn't quite right. Check you copied all of it, or ask the couple to send it again.

Good to know

  • Some forms let you add yourself. If the couple's form is open to anyone, a name it can't find gets We couldn't find you and the option to add yourself. If you're sure you're already invited, choose Typed it differently? Search again and try another spelling first, so you don't end up on their list twice.
  • The form never lists who else is invited. It only shows a name from the list when yours is close to it, to ask if it's you. Otherwise the couple can tell you how they wrote your name.
