Works on your phone

Your budget starts with ten categories, from Venue & Catering to Miscellaneous, each with its own line items. Add anything that's missing, and hide what you won't need, so the budget looks like your wedding.

Steps

  1. Open Budget, go to the Budget tab and choose Categories in the toolbar (Manage on a phone). The Categories panel lists every category and its line items.

  2. For a new category, choose Add category. Type its Category name (1) and, if you like, its Budget (2). Pick a Colour (3), then choose Add category (4).

  3. For a new line item, choose a category to open it, then choose Add line item at the end of its list. Type the Line item name (1) and an optional Budget, then choose Add line item (2).

  4. Choose Done. Your new category or line item is in the Budget table, and you can pick it when you add an invoice.

Good to know

  • Hide what you won't use. The eye beside a category or line item hides it from the Budget table, the Expenses tab, the Dashboard and every category list. Nothing is deleted: Hidden at the top of the panel shows them, and the eye brings them back.
  • Only something empty can be hidden. If it has an amount or an invoice, the panel says what's in it. Set its amounts to $0 (and move or delete its invoices) first.
  • Only your own can be deleted. Categories and line items you added are marked Custom and have a bin. A deleted one takes its amounts with it, and can't be brought back.
  • Renaming? Choose Edit Mode on the Budget tab, then click the name.
  • Its budget is shared out of your total, not added to it, and the form shows what share of your total it is as you type. If your categories add up to more than your total, the Budget tab says so.
