Paid a vendor? Tick it off in your budget, so you always know what's paid and what's still to come. And if you'd like a nudge, WedBuild can email you when a payment is due.

Steps

  1. Open Budget and go to the Expenses tab. On Invoices, choose the invoice you've paid. On a computer it opens beside the list.

  2. Choose the Rec. Payment tab. Under Scheduled Payments, each payment still to make is listed with its date and amount. Choose the one you've paid (1).

  3. Check the date you paid it (it starts on today), then choose Mark as Paid (2). It's recorded as paid on Pay. History, and the balance owing goes down.

  4. Paid a different amount, or part of a payment? Under Record New Payment, type the Payment Amount (the % buttons work it out from the balance owing), check the Payment Date, then choose Record Payment. It comes off your earliest scheduled payment first. Pay part of one and the rest of it stays scheduled; pay more and the extra comes off the next one. Either way, your payments still add up to the invoice.

  5. Paid several at once? On the Payments tab choose Record Payment. Tick each payment you've made, check its Paid on date, then choose Mark as paid.

Payment reminders

WedBuild can email you once a week when a payment is overdue or due in the next 7 days. Reminders are on unless you turn them off. To check, choose the gear at the top of Budget and look at Payment reminder emails (1). Changes save as you make them.

Good to know

  • The $ beside an invoice opens it straight on Rec. Payment.
  • Add Payment on the Payments tab works the same way. Choose the invoice under Pay an existing invoice, and the payment comes off its earliest scheduled payment too.
  • Marked one paid by mistake? On Pay. History, choose Delete under it, then Unrecord Payment. It goes back to waiting to be paid. A payment you typed in under Record New Payment is removed with Delete Payment instead, and its amount is owing again.
  • Reminders only email when something's due, and never more than once a week. They go to the email address of the account the wedding belongs to.
  • Payments count towards your spending in Invoice tracking. See Simple or Invoice tracking.
