Works on your phone

Need to tell everyone about a change of time, the shuttle bus or the after-party? A Custom Message is an email that starts empty, so every word is yours. It looks like your other wedding emails, with your names at the top.

Steps

  1. Open Communications from the sidebar and choose New Email. The new email opens on the Set Up tab. Under Template, choose Custom Message (1), and give it a Name so you can find it later (guests never see it).

  2. Open the Design tab. Write your Subject line (1), the first thing guests see in their inbox. The Subtitle (2) sits under your names and says "Custom Message" until you type your own, or switch it to Hidden. Then write your Message body (3).

  3. Want a photo at the top? Under Header image, choose Upload Header Image.

  4. Further down, under Email buttons, switch on any buttons you'd like under your message, such as Open Wedding Website, Update RSVP or View your itinerary. A Custom Message starts with none switched on.

  5. Check it on the right: the preview shows the email as guests will see it. Then open the Send tab, tick your guests and choose Send or Schedule. See Choose which guests get an email.

Good to know

  • No subject? The email goes out as "A message from John & Marie", with the Couple names from Wedding details (or "A message from the couple" if they're blank). The preview shows it the same way.
  • The date under your names is the Event date in Wedding details. A new email takes it from your wedding settings. It's only shown in the email: an Add to Calendar button uses the event chosen in its own row. Don't want a date? Open the calendar and choose the same day again to clear it, and it stays cleared.
  • Type {firstName} in your message and each guest sees their own first name, or the first names of everyone in their party. Messages can be up to 500 characters.
  • Your work saves as you go, so you can come back to a draft any time.
  • Send yourself a test first to see it in a real inbox. See Send yourself a test email first.
  • Attaching a card? Switch Announcement card on, on the Set Up tab, before you write. Switching it on clears the subject and message of a Custom Message, and switches on its View Card button.
  • On a phone, the editor has a Preview tab too, and Next at the foot of each tab takes you to the following one.
