Works on your phone

Your save the date is designed in Studio and sent from Communications, as an email with a button that opens your card. Nothing goes to a guest until you choose Send or Schedule, so you can set everything up at your own pace.

Steps

  1. Make your card first. In Studio (opens in a new tab), open the save the date you've made, or choose Start from a template and pick a save the date design.

  2. Open Communications from the sidebar and choose New Email. It opens on the Set Up tab. Under Template, make sure Save The Date (1) is chosen (a new email starts on it). Give the email a Name (2) so you can find it later (guests never see this), and pick an Associated event (3) if you like. Then switch Announcement card on (4).

  3. Open the Design tab. Write your Subject line (1) and your Message body (2). Type {firstName} anywhere in the message and each guest sees their own first name, or the first names of everyone in their party.

  4. Further down the Design tab, under Email buttons, choose your card in the View Invitation row (1). That's the button guests press to see it.

  5. On the Settings tab, check the Email address under Reply-to: it's where guests' replies go. Then choose Send Test Email to send yourself a copy and see it in a real inbox.

  6. Open the Send tab. Tick the guests you want, or choose Select all (1) to tick everyone in the list who has an email address. Then choose Send (2) to send straight away, or Schedule (3) to pick a date and time.

Good to know

  • See who opened it on the same Send tab. The numbers across the top show how many were sent, opened and clicked, and each guest's row says where their email has got to. Click a sent guest to see the exact email they received.
  • Send goes straight away. There's no second question, so check your ticks first. Anyone you've already sent this email to is skipped, so nobody gets it twice.
  • You can schedule up to 3 days (72 hours) ahead. Times are in your wedding's time zone. To call a scheduled send off, choose the Scheduled filter, tick those guests and choose Cancel.
  • Your work saves as you go. There's no Save button, and you can come back to a draft any time.
  • Switching Announcement card on or off resets your wording. The subject, preview text and message change to the template's words, so set it before you write.
  • Guests without an email address can't be ticked. The Missing email filter shows who they are, so you can add their addresses in Guests.
  • Once it's sent, the email locks so every guest gets the same thing. Unlock Email opens it up for future sends, but the card stays fixed: to send a different card, start a new email.
