Give each guest their own RSVP link
In Guests, choose Personal links. Every guest has their own link, each household a 4-character code. Send links by WhatsApp, text or email; see who opens them.

Works on your phone
Every guest on your list has their own link, and every household has a short code for paper invitations. A guest's link opens your RSVP already knowing who they are: it says "Hi Priya", ticks Priya and offers to reply for the rest of her party too. There's no name to type, and you can see who has opened theirs and who has replied. Once your website is published, the same link opens your website instead, saying hello to just them. See Send each guest their own link to your website.
Steps
-
Open Guests from the sidebar and choose Personal links at the top (on a phone, the link button at the top). Your guests are listed under their household, which shows its Code. Each guest's row says where they're at: Not sent, sent and when, opened (or Opened the website, and how often) or Replied. Search guests finds anyone by their name, their household's name or the name of someone they live with.
-
To send a guest their link from your own phone, choose WhatsApp or Text on their row. Your phone's app opens with your message and their link ready, to their own mobile number. No number saved for them? The button says so: use Email, or Copy to paste the link anywhere. The row then shows it as sent.
-
To email it, choose Email on a guest's row, or the button above the list, like Email the 31 not sent who have an email. Communications opens a new email with a Reply to our RSVP button (and Open our website while links open your website) and those guests ticked on the Send tab. Read it through, then choose Send yourself: each guest's email has their own link.
-
To reach a whole household at once, choose Email household or Text household in its header (households of two or more). Email household opens the same new email with everyone in it who has an email ticked. Text household opens WhatsApp or Messages for each of them with a mobile number in turn. Either way, each guest gets their own link. Nobody in it with an email or a mobile? The button says so.
-
Choose a guest's name (or Details in their ⋯) to see what happened: their link, with Copy, how and when it was sent, when they opened your website and their RSVP (the first time, the last time and how many times), and when they replied or changed their reply.
-
Change the words under Message template. {first names}, {link} and {code} fill in with each guest's first name, their own link and their household's code. Choose Save message, or Use our wording again to go back to ours. Our wording follows where links open: your RSVP, or your website.
Each person replies for themselves
Most households reply together, so Priya's link offers to reply for Sam too. Grown-up children or housemates may rather answer on their own.
-
On Personal links, choose ⋯ in the household's header, then Each person replies for themselves. It's there for households of two or more.
-
Now each person's own link, and a name search on your RSVP form, show only that person. The code on a shared invitation still opens the whole household. The household's header says Each replies for themselves while it's on.
Good to know
- A household is a party. Guests you've grouped together share one code, and each of them has their own link. A guest on their own is a household of one. See Group guests into a party.
- Codes are for paper invitations: one envelope, one household. On your RSVP form, guests choose Have a code from your invitation? and type the 4 letters and numbers, and it greets the whole household, like "Hi Priya & Sam". Codes never use 0, O, 1, I or L, so they can only be read one way. The household's header says what its code has opened.
- Coming back shows their answers. A guest who has replied and opens their link again, or types their household's code, lands on Your RSVP: every event and question with their answer, each with Edit. See Change your RSVP after you've sent it.
- Opens are counted for each guest. When Priya opens her link, her row changes, not Sam's.
- Forwarded link? Choose ⋯ on the guest's row, then Make a new link. Their old link stops working and tells anyone who opens it to ask you for a new one. A code that's got around? New code in the household's ⋯ replaces it, and its people's own links keep working.
- See what they see in a guest's ⋯ opens their link as they'd see it: their RSVP, or your website greeting them while links open your website. See what the household sees in the household's ⋯ shows what their code opens. Your own look isn't counted as opened.
- Not them? Anyone else holding the link can choose Not Priya? Find your name on the form, or Not you? on your website, and search as usual.
- A plus-one you haven't named yet has no row of their own. Their household's code covers them, and once you give them a name, they get their own link.
- Sending lots? Send one by one opens WhatsApp or Messages for each guest with a mobile number in turn, and Download links saves a spreadsheet with a row for every guest, their own link and their household's code. See Send each guest their own link to your website.
- Your RSVP form must be open. If it isn't taking replies, the page says so, and guests who go to reply by their link are told replies are closed.
- Sending from your own phone costs nothing and works in every country. WedBuild never messages your guests for you.
