Remove an empty seat from a table
In Drag & Drop, choose the table's pencil and lower Number of Seats. In the Visual chart, click the table and press – beside Seats under Selected.

Got a seat that nobody needs? You can take it away. How you do it depends on which seating chart you're using, so open Seating from the sidebar and look at the tabs along the top: the one you're in is dark.
In the Drag & Drop Seating Chart
-
Open the Drag & Drop Seating Chart tab (1). To see only the tables with a free seat, choose Available (2). Then choose the pencil on the table you want to change (3).
-
In Edit Table, lower Number of Seats (1). One fewer takes away one empty seat. A table can have from 1 to 20 seats.
-
Choose Update Table (2). There's no separate save button: the chart saves as you go.
If you go lower than the number of guests already at the table, a warning tells you how many guests it has and Update Table stays greyed out. Move someone to another table first, or keep the number at least that high.
In the Visual Seating Chart
-
Open the Visual Seating Chart tab and click the table on your room. Its settings appear under Selected, at the bottom of the tools on the left.
-
Beside Seats, press – (1). Each press takes one seat away, and + adds one (a table can have up to 50). The table is redrawn straight away, and the chart saves as you go.
Seats come off the end, highest number first. If someone was sitting in a seat that goes, they move to the lowest-numbered empty seat at the same table. Everyone else keeps their seat.
A table can't have fewer seats than guests. When it's full, – is greyed out and a note says how many guests are seated there: move someone to another table first.
A Custom Layout table keeps its seats. They're the ones you picked when you added it, so its Seats count is greyed out. To change it, choose Delete Table and Delete (anyone seated there goes back to To seat), then add it again with the Table tool.
Good to know
- Not sure which chart you've been using? The Dashboard tab lists your Visual charts and your Drag & Drop charts separately.
- On a phone or tablet, in the Drag & Drop chart, tap ⋯ beside the table under Tables, then Edit Table. On the Visual chart on a phone, tap the table on Room: Edit selection has the same Seats.
- A Final chart stays Final unless someone moves. If a seat you take away had someone in it, the chart stops being Final, and a banner says Find My Seat still shows your last final chart. Choose Mark as Final in the banner when you're done.
- The QR Seating Chart has no seats to remove. Its room layout, which guests see on Find My Seat, places tables only.
- The Drag & Drop Seating Chart comes with Standard and Pro. The Visual Seating Chart and QR Seating Chart come with Pro, and you can use them during the free Pro trial.
