Set an RSVP deadline

Under Sharing on your RSVP form, pick a date under RSVP deadline, change the time if you like, then Save changes. The form closes by itself at that time.

Works on your phone

An RSVP deadline closes your form for you, so there's no switch to remember on the day. Guests see the date on the form's first screen, which gives everyone a gentle nudge to reply.

Steps

  1. Open Forms & RSVPs from the sidebar, choose the RSVP tab and pick the form.

  2. Under Sharing, find RSVP deadline and choose Pick a closing date. Pick the day (1).

  3. The form closes at 11:59 pm that day. To close it at another time, change the time beside the date.

  4. Choose Save changes (2). The line under the deadline says exactly when the form will stop accepting submissions.

What your guests see

  • Before the deadline, the form's first screen says "Please respond by" and the date.
  • After it, the link shows Form Closed, with a note that you stopped taking RSVPs on that date and that late guests should get in touch with you directly. Nothing more can be sent through the form. The form's preview in Forms & RSVPs shows you the same page, in the same words.

Good to know

  • Changed your mind? Pick a later date or choose Clear, then Save changes. A form whose deadline has passed opens again as soon as you save, as long as Form status is on.
  • The time is your own. The deadline uses the time zone of the computer or phone you set it from.
  • Each RSVP form has its own deadline.
  • Chase the last few before it closes. On the Dashboard tab, Yet to reply shows who hasn't answered, and Send reminders opens a new RSVP reminder email in Communications.
  • Need to close it right now? Switch Form status off instead. See Close your RSVP form.
