Works on your phone
Websites made before the new editor arrived open in the classic editor. The new one lets you place anything anywhere and design your phone layout too, and moving across takes a moment. Your classic website is kept exactly as it is, so you can always go back.
Steps
-
Open Website. Across the top of the classic editor, the Try the new website editor banner has Try it (1). It's also Switch to the new editor… in Settings, and in the ⋮ menu on a phone.
-
Choose how to start. Bring my current design across (1) rebuilds your words, photos and layout in the new editor, for computers and phones. Or choose Start from a template to pick one of the new editor's templates, or Start fresh for a simple page with your names and wedding date. Then choose Open the new editor (2) (or See the templates).
-
Give it a few moments while it saves, measures and rebuilds your website. The new editor then opens with a note on what came across and anything worth a look. Choose Start editing.
-
Look at your website on Desktop and on Phone, then choose Republish when you're happy. See Make your website look right on phones.
Going back to the classic editor
In the new editor, open the ⋮ menu above the top-right corner of your page and choose Go back to the classic editor…, then Use the classic editor (1).
Your website goes back to exactly how it was in the classic editor when you switched. What you made in the new editor is kept as a restore point in History, but its changes don't carry over to the classic one.
Good to know
- Guests see no change until you publish. Moving across, or back, changes your editor only. Your live website stays as it is until you choose Republish.
- If the move doesn't work, nothing changes: your website is just as it was. You can try again, start from a template, or start fresh.
- New websites start in the new editor. This is only for websites made before it.
