Works on your phone

Need to take your website down for a bit, maybe while you rework it? You can switch it off and on again. Nothing is deleted: your website stays in the editor, ready for when you want it back.

Steps

  1. Open Website and choose Site at the top, then the Privacy tab. On a phone, Site is in the ⋮ menu at the top.

  2. Under Who can see it, switch off Website Active (1), then choose Save changes (2).

  3. Your website is now offline. Anyone who opens your link sees Wedding Website Not Found, and the top of the editor says Not published yet.

  4. When you're ready to bring it back, choose Publish website. It goes live again at the same address, with any changes you've made since.

Good to know

  • Only want your guests to see it? A password might suit you better than switching it off. See Password-protect your website.
  • Website Active only shows while your website is live. Once it's off, Publish website is how you turn it back on.
  • Your address stays yours, so links and QR codes you've already shared work again once you publish.
  • Your earlier versions are kept in History.

In the classic editor

Choose Settings at the top. Publishing Settings opens with Website Active under Who can see it. Switch it off and choose Save Changes.
