Works on your phone
Want only your guests to see your website? Give it a password. Anyone who opens your link is asked for it first, and you can change it or take it off whenever you like.
Steps
-
Open Website and choose Site at the top, then the Privacy tab. On a phone, Site is in the ⋮ menu at the top.
-
Under Who can see it, switch on Password Protection (1) and type your password in the box below it (2). The eye shows what you've typed.
-
Choose Save changes (3). It works straight away: there's no need to republish.
-
Share the password with your guests, on your invitations or in an email. When they open your website, they see This wedding is password protected and type it in.
In the classic editor
Choose Settings at the top of the classic editor. Publishing Settings opens, with Password Protection under Who can see it. Switch it on, type your password and choose Save Changes.
Good to know
- Password Protection needs a password. If you switch it on and leave the box empty, Save changes stops, takes you to the box and says "Enter a password for your website, or switch Password Protection off." Type one in, or switch it off.
- Switched it on before without typing a password? It shows as off, because guests weren't being asked for one. Switch it on, type a password and choose Save changes.
- Guests only type it once a day. Their browser remembers it for 24 hours.
- Changing the password asks everyone for the new one. Your old password can't be shown again, so to change it, type a new one in the box and choose Save changes.
- To take it off, switch Password Protection off and choose Save changes.
- Before you share, under the switches, checks your password is one guests can type from an invitation, as you type it.
- Your RSVP form and other guest links don't ask for it. The password covers your website. Your itinerary has a password of its own.
- A password can be up to 100 characters.
