Works on your phone
Changed something you wish you hadn't? Don't worry: there's almost always a way back. Undo takes back your last few changes, and History keeps earlier versions of your whole website.
Steps
-
To take back your last change, press ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows), or choose the undo arrow (1) at the top right of your page. Press it again to go further back. The arrow beside it puts a change back again.
-
For anything further back, choose History at the top of the editor, or open the ⋮ menu and choose History… (2).
-
Restore points are saved by themselves before anything that replaces your design, like using a template, clearing the page or switching editors. Choose Restore (1) beside the one you want, then Restore again to confirm.
-
Further down, Published versions are the versions your guests have seen. Preview opens one in a new tab. Restore (1), then Restore Version, brings it back to your editor.
-
Have a look in the editor, then choose Republish. Restoring changes only your editor: guests keep seeing your live website until you republish.
In the classic editor
If a Try the new website editor banner runs across the top of your editor, you're in the classic editor. Undo and Redo are in the bar above your page, and History is at the top of the editor, with the same restore points and published versions.
Good to know
- Undo remembers your changes while the editor is open, up to your last 100. Once you leave the editor, use History instead.
- Restoring is safe too. WedBuild saves a restore point of your website as it is before it restores, so you can undo a restore.
- WedBuild keeps your 20 most recent restore points, and your live version plus the 2 published before it.
- Can't see History at the top? It appears once you've published or have a restore point. The ⋮ menu always has History…, and so does Site, under After the day.
